Arenal & La Fortuna, Costa Rica

The near-perfect cone of Arenal Volcano rises above La Fortuna in the northern lowlands of Costa Rica, surrounded by rainforest, waterfalls and rivers warmed by geothermal heat. Hot-spring resorts, hanging bridges, the La Fortuna Waterfall and Lake Arenal make it the great inland escape of the country, about three hours by road from San José or Liberia.
